Now that my workplace has approved my year-long leave and my paycheck will start going down by 20%, the reality of our world-wide vacation is starting to hit me. With that, it’s definitely time to prepare!
To help, MegaMommy has borrowed dozens of books from the library, but there’s one in particular that I feel will be an invaluable resource in the years to come – Lonely Planet’s Travel with Children: The Essential Guide for Travelling Families (released August 1st, 2015). It’s laid out beautifully – with every flip of the page showing a country, the best time to go, how to travel around, costs, health concerns and more. Lonely Planet has always been one of the best travel companies, but this book and its wonderful layout is amazing. It will definitely be a permanent part of our travel preparation collection.
My first order of business, thanks to this book’s easy to use format, will be to create a giant spreadsheet with all of the countries down the Y axis and months across the X axis. I’ll colour in the months that Lonely Planet (and other sites) recommend as the best times to travel and will then be able to visually pick out possible routes.
